Janet Carlson
1.11 Group, CEO/Creative Director, Copy
Janet Carlson has always been fascinated by medicine. She toyed with the idea of medical school and opted out twice. Instead, she chose a more creative path that played to her strengths: science, writing, and ideation.
Janet spent eight years in Big Pharma and medical advertising on Madison Avenue in NYC, focusing on the creation of new programs for healthcare professionals. She then realized she was born to be an entrepreneur, after working with serial entrepreneur Christopher Whittle at the Medical News Network, overseeing all of the J&J companies.
Bringing her medical background together with her entrepreneurial spirit, Janet founded one of the first digital advertising agencies, One Eleven Interactive, which focused on healthcare, specifically targeting healthcare professionals. One Eleven created the first website in the pharma industry, the first direct to physician email programs, MightyMail™ and the first digital, then mobile drug sampling program, SampleServer®, used by 48 pharma companies and was embedded into Epocrates software, used by 4/5 doctors in the U.S.
Janet is currently CEO of the 1.11 Group and also serves as the Creative Director for Copy. In keeping with the company history of innovation in pharma, the team has launched their new products, VOXPlan™ Brand and VOXplan™ BRANDmap - reimagining the brand plan/business plans so it is more data rich, more insightful, and an inclusive process that allows everyone’s voice to be heard and is a pleasure to do.
Her parents still bring up med school any chance they get. Really.
