Appearances:

Day 2 - World Orphan Drug Congress USA 2026 @ 12:10

Showcase 4: MP-004: A First-in-Class Therapy Targeting Retinal Degenerative Disorders

Miramoon Pharma is developing MP-004, a first-in-class small molecule therapy for retinitis pigmentosa and other inherited retinal disorders driven by disrupted intracellular calcium homeostasis.

Designed for topical delivery, MP-004 crosses the blood-retinal barrier to efficiently reach photoreceptors. In murine models, it significantly preserves cell survival, retinal structure, and 50–70% of photoreceptor function (IOVS, 2025).

MP-004 has received FDA and EMA orphan drug designation and has completed preclinical studies with no observed toxicity or tissue accumulation. We are preparing to initiate Phase I clinical trials in Q1 2027 to demonstrate a delay in disease progression and preserve vision in patients with retinitis pigmentosa
