John graduated from the University of Sydney and worked as a veterinarian in mostly small animal practice in Sydney for just over 10 years.  John then joined the University of Sydney Faculty of Veterinary Science in 2003 where he coordinated the Professional Practice Program and taught in a variety of areas including practice management, ethics and law. John also developed the final year mentor program and honours research program, was academic coordinator of the final year Veterinary Student Intern Program and Honours Program, and served as Sub Dean for Learning and Teaching.  He joined the Board as registrar in 2012.
