Dr Monteiro is a veterinarian, researcher, author and speaker with a PhD in chronic pain and advanced training in animal welfare including board certification by the American College of Animal Welfare. She has acted as the Chair of the WSAVA Pain Committee, authored over 80 peer-reviewed publications and lectured in numerous conferences worldwide. After having spent most of her career at the University of Montreal, Dr Monteiro joined Zoetis to work within Global Medical Affairs as a Director of Veterinary Operations for the Pain Therapeutic Category.
