Matt Gardner is Director and Senior Privacy Counsel at Ro, where he leads strategic privacy and regulatory initiatives for one of the fastest-growing digital health companies in the U.S. At Ro, Matt helps shape the company’s approach to data protection, compliance, and risk management in an evolving legal and technological landscape. Prior to joining Ro, Matt served as Associate General Counsel at Meta (Facebook), where he advised on complex privacy, advertising, and regulatory matters during a period of rapid platform evolution and heightened global scrutiny of data practices. Earlier in his career, Matt served as a Senior Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice, gaining deep experience in litigation, regulatory enforcement, and federal legal practice. Matt earned his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School and began his professional journey as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, where he developed a foundational commitment to service and disciplined problem-solving. Matt is a frequent speaker and contributor on issues at the intersection of privacy, technology, and legal compliance, having presented on topics such as data consent frameworks, litigation risk management, and practical strategies for navigating U.S. and global privacy regimes.
