Brian Thompson, Verification & Security Designer, BT Creative LLC

Brian A. Thompson is a highly accomplished designer and innovator in the field of currency and document security, with a career spanning over two decades at the forefront of anti-counterfeiting technology and creative design.  Brian began his career at the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP), where he played a central role in some of the nation’s most significant advancements in secure design. During his tenure, he contributed to the design and development of high-profile projects that have become global benchmarks in security printing. Among his most notable achievements, Brian served as a key designer of the U.S. $100 bill, incorporating advanced security features that protect the world’s most widely circulated banknote against counterfeiting. His work seamlessly blended complex technical safeguards with refined visual artistry, ensuring the note’s integrity while preserving its iconic appearance.  In addition to his contributions to U.S. currency, Brian also helped shape the next generation of American travel documents. He was instrumental in designing the data page and four additional interior pages of the modern U.S. passport, projects that required balancing aesthetics, symbolism, and the integration of cutting-edge security technologies. These designs are now used by millions of American travelers, embodying both national identity and the highest standards of document protection.  Building on his government career, Brian transitioned into entrepreneurship by founding BT Creative, a specialized firm dedicated to verification and security design. Through BT Creative, he partners with governments, financial institutions, and private sector clients around the world to develop custom solutions that protect against fraud, counterfeiting, and forgery. His company emphasizes innovation in secure printing, brand protection, and document authentication, delivering strategies that are both technically robust and artistically compelling.  Widely respected for his expertise, Brian is recognized not only as a designer but also as a thought leader in the evolving field of document and currency security. His work reflects a rare blend of technical mastery, creative vision, and deep understanding of the ways in which secure design safeguards economies, identities, and trust.  Today, through BT Creative, Brian continues to advance the field of security design, shaping the next generation of solutions that protect nations, institutions, and individuals in an increasingly complex and interconnected world.
