Steven Trotter is a dedicated and innovative educational leader with experitse and passion for driving positive change in the field of education and leadership. Currently serving as the Principal of Ashby Primary School and Executive Chair for Barwon Principal Network, Steven is committed to creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every student, educator and those leading them can thrive. He brings not only over 20 years experience as an eductor, but also 15 years holding senior leadership roles in education that has spanned both primary and secondary sectors in surbuban, rurral, largen and small schools. 

As a recipient of the ACEL New Voice in School Leadership Scholar award in 2024, and author of 'The Art of Skimming Stones: Leading Sustained Improvement in Schools', Steven has been recognised for his exceptional leadership skills and forward-thinking approach to education and leadership. He is known for his ability to inspire and empower both students and staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous, sustained improvement.

With a strong background in curriculum development, co-authoring several curriculum design texts, instructional leadership, and data-driven decision-making, Steven is constantly seeking new ways to enhance teaching and learning outcomes through effective leadership approaches. He believes in the power of leading people to transform education and is dedicated to integrating innovative tools, approaches and strategies into the learning and leading environments.

Steven is a dynamic speaker and presenter, with a talent for engaging audiences and sharing his insights, real stories and experiences in a compelling and relatable manner. His presentations at conferences and events such as, ACEL National Conference 2025, EDUtech 2025, National Education Summit 2025. Steven leave attendees feeling inspired and motivated to make a positive impact in their own educational communities, with simple yet impactful takeaways.
