Dr Shyam Barr, Professional Associate, University of Canberra

Dr. Shyam Barr is a highly regarded educator and researcher dedicated to advancing students’ self-regulated learning, an essential skill in the digital age. Building on his career as a secondary school teacher and educational leader, he works as a Professional Associate at the University of Canberra, leading initiatives that bridge research and practice. Shyam is the author of the book Educate to Self-Regulate: Empowering Learners for Lifelong Success and the co-host of the podcast Educate to Self-Regulate, which has been downloaded over 10,000 times in 81 countries. These are two popular resources for educators globally. Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards for his contributions to education. In 2024, the Australian Council for Educational Leaders (ACEL) selected him as a New Voice Scholar for Educational Leadership Research. Additionally, the Educator listed him as one of the Most Influential Educators in Australia.
