Lauren Pugh is a New Zealand educator, curriculum designer, and thought leader in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education. As CEO of Science Alive Charitable Trust, Lauren has transformed the organization into a dynamic and accessible platform that empowers educators and inspires learners nationwide. After losing its physical centre in the Christchurch quakes of 2010/11 Science Alive has embraced a digital-first strategy, removing barriers to STEAM education and providing culturally inclusive resources tailored to New Zealand’s unique contexts. Lauren’s work focuses on supporting rural and underrepresented communities, including Māori, Pasifika, and young women, to see themselves reflected in STEAM fields and develop vital skills for the 21st Century. With expertise in teaching, curriculum design, and professional development, Lauren has created resources and workshops that are practical, impactful, and straight to the point—ensuring educators walk away with the tools and confidence to make STEAM really meaningful in their practice. Her approach emphasizes curiosity, creativity, and a focus on real results over fluff.
