Geoff is an Architect with 40 years of experience in practice and a continuing interest in research. He is working on a series of papers relating to clean air in schools, and has carried out field research on K-12 schools in NSW and the ACT. His interest in Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) began with an investigation into why Residential Aged Care Facilities were so prone to super spreader events during the first year of the COVID outbreak; the answer turned out to be low ventilation in DTS naturally ventilated buildings which had their the windows shut. Lots of politicians say that "Children are our future", but the condition of many government schools belies this sentiment, and no more so when we consider their arrangements for heating, cooling and ventilation. Geoff is working towards better solutions for IAQ in schools that will foster learning and be sustainable.
