Andrew Higgins, Director, Aboriginal Engagement & Student Support, TAFE NSW

Andrew is a Wiradjuri and Ngemba man, who was raised on Worimi Country, and is currently connected to Awabakal Country in Newcastle. With a background in education and Aboriginal economic development within the NSW Public Service, Andrew is currently the Director, Aboriginal Engagement and Student Support with TAFE NSW. He leads an all-Aboriginal team which is committed to fostering place-based partnerships with NSW Aboriginal businesses, organisations and communities. These co-desiged partnerships are to ensure that Aboriginal aspirations are heard and actioned toward positive training outcomes in the vocational education space. Andrew and his team have a sharp focus on providing meaningful employment and training pathways for Aboriginal people, while supporting Aboriginal organisation capability development toward self-determinated community growth.
