He is the Director of Center for the Development of Academic Excellence (CDAE) and Associate Professor at the Department of Medical Education, School of Medical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia. With a background as a medical doctor, he has earned a Master of Science and a PhD in Medical Education. Dr. Saiful holds various notable positions, including serving as the Editor in Chief of the respected Education in Medicine Journal. Moreover, he proudly holds the role of President of the Malaysian Association of Education in Medicine & Health Sciences (MAEMHS – 2022-2024). Additionally, he contributes as the Regional Director of East Asia for the International Society for Emotional Intelligence. Dr. Saiful's areas of expertise cover a wide range of essential topics in education, including well-being in medical and higher education, curriculum development, assessment, the development and validation of measurement tools, emotional intelligence, and psychometric research. Since 2022, Stanford University recognized Dr. Saiful for his remarkable contributions, listing him in the Top 2% Researchers in his respective field. Throughout his career, Dr. Saiful has been humbled to receive numerous awards, including the Gold Medal for the Reimagine Education Teaching Delivery Award, the Best of the Best Award, and the Gold Medal for International Innovative Practices in Higher Education. He has also been honoured with the Excellent Educator Award, the International Leadership Award, the Gold Medal Award for Innovative Practices in Higher Education, the Ronald Harden Innovation in Medical Education Award, and the Sanggar Sanjung Research Award. Dr. Saiful remains dedicated to advancing medical education and research, and his impactful work continues to make a difference in the field and beyond.
