Biodata Dr. Mohd Rozi Ismail is a Deputy Director at Teachers Training Institute Kota Bharu Campus and lead the International and Smart Partnership unit, formerly a Leader of Smart Partnership and International under Cluster 7, Tranformation Institute Teacher Education, Assistant Director and Head of Unit of International Relation in Research Development and Innovation Centre at Institute of Teacher Education Malaysia, Ministry of Education Malaysia. He holds a PhD degree in Educational Leadership and Management from Colorado State University of USA, Master of Educational Management from Malaya University, Kuala Lumpur (KL), and Bachelor of Arts in Japanese Language from Daito Bunka University, Japan. He also received Teachers Training Certificate from Specialist Teachers Training Institute in Kuala Lumpur, Diploma in Humanities from International Student Institute in Japan, Certificates in Leadership Development JPA JICA from Japan and Pre Posting Diplomatic Course from Institute Diplomatic Foreign Relation in KL. He had been a teacher in SK LKTP Mempaga 2 Primary School (1990) and Science Pasir Puteh Secondary School (2000), and lecturer in Kota Bharu Teachers Training Institute (2007). He was previously Director of Ministry of Higher Education EM Beijing and Assistant Director of Ministry of Education Teachers Training Institute. awards The that he received, amongst others, include Excellence Service Award (Ministry Of Education Malaysia 2004), Excellence Service Award (State Education Department Kelantan 2004), Pro Active Teacher Award 2005, Presidential Award Colorado State University 2010, Global Ambassador Award Colorado State USA 2010, 2011, and 2012, International Student President Award (COISA) 2011, Best Marketing Organization in Higher Education, Education Malaysia Beijing 2016. He has also served as Consultant for Education Forum for Asia, Consultant for ACRSM Malaysia China Teaching Based, International Higher Education Advisor (University Technology Malaysia) and International Higher Education Advisor from University Sultan Azlan Shah (USAS) for the academic year of 2017/2018. Dr Mohd Rozi Ismail is an idealist. No situation is too tough for him, and he handles it with a smile. A native of Kuala Krai, Kelantan, Dr Mohd Rozi, or fondly known as Roji-sensei started his teaching career upon completing his teacher’s training certificate in Sekolah Kebangsaan LKTP Mempaga 2 in 1990. He was offered to pursue his diploma at the International Student Institute, Tokyo, Japan in Humanities Studies. He then proceeded to complete his Bachelor of Arts in Japanese Language at Daito Bunka University, Saitama in 2000. “Living in Japan was tough. My scholarship only covered for one person, whilst I had my family with me. But I took that as a challenge and looked for a job,” Roji-sensei told. He worked at a gas station after class until 2am, and attended school the next day. He was such a hardworking employee that he was offered a permanent position at the outlet. Upon graduating, he returned to Kelantan to continue to teach at a secondary school but felt he had to finish what he started. He completed his Masters in Educational Management at University Malaya, Kuala Lumpur and started lecturing at Kota Bharu Teachers Training Institute. Roji-sensei was offered to complete his PhD in Educational Leadership and Management under the Ministry of Education scholarship programme and this time he decided to move to the west; Colorado State University, USA. “As a teacher, I always carry this responsibility to ensure that every student I know is motivated through my interaction with them. And I feel that I learnt this passion of teaching through my experience in Japan,” he said. Roji-sensei admitted that his highest achievement as a student in Colorado was when he was voted to be the President of the Counsel of International Student Association (COISA), with 11,000 students as members. After completing his PhD, Roji-sensei returned to serve as Assistant Director at the Teachers Training Institute Headquarters. Due to his excellent service, he was sent to Beijing in 2015 as Director, Education Malaysia Global Services under the Ministry of Higher Education. Roji-sensei continued to promote Malaysia as a destination for education which resulted Education Malaysia to be recognised as the Best Marketing Organisation in Higher Education in 2016. 2019 – 2022, heads the International Unit at the Institute Teacher Education IPG Campus Kota Bharu and currently hold a post as Deputy Director of the IPG KKB.
