Dr Joyce Teo is currently holding the position of Assistant Vice Chancellor and Vice President (Global Affairs) where her office oversees internationalisation, university partnership and global engagement at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD). Before the Assistant Vice Chancellor's role, Dr Teo has held several administrative positions at UBD including Coordinator of UBD's APEC Studies Centre, Director of International & Public Relations Office, Inaugural Director of Institute of Policy Studies and Dean of UBD School of Business and Economics. Dr Teo is one of the senior economists in the country where her specialisation extends to issues pertinent to international trade relations especially on ASEAN and APEC where her professional appointments include Member of APEC HRD Working Group (Capacity Building Network), and also Country Representative for international projects such as AEC, EAFTA, CEPEA, NEAT, among others. Dr Teo has also delivered many presentations in the past four years on her views with regards to the role of AI and digital transformation in the changing landscape of higher education. She strongly believes in the collaborative synergy of COIL and currently her office also oversees UBD COIL's collaboration with the international partner universities. Dr Teo completed her PhD in Economics in University of Queensland, with the specific trainings in labour economics and econometrics.
