Jhumki Debnath, Teacher, NPS International School

At the heart of my teaching philosophy is the belief that education should develop empathy,
critical thinking, collaboration and resilience. My students and I not only co-construct knowledge and
analyse texts, but we also delve into the deeper implications of a text and discuss the real-
world ramifications. In the spirit of inquiry, students are encouraged to find
their voice, challenge the status quo, and appreciate diverse perspectives. I take pride in my
role as the facilitator of knowledge and in creating inclusive spaces where the learners feel
empowered and seen. I am currently a member of the English faculty at NPS International School in Singapore.
