Mr Gaurav Rekhi is a healthcare and education leader with over 25 years of experience, with a career spanning hospital operations, healthcare management and medical education. Beginning his career in hospital management in 1999, he has progressed through senior operational and leadership roles across India, Malaysia, South Africa and Mauritius. His hospital leadership experience has covered the management, turnaround and expansion of hospitals and healthcare networks of varying scale. Key highlights include: - As Managing Director & CEO of Manipal Hospitals ASEAN, led hospital expansion across Malaysia, including scaling a 70-bed hospital to 220 beds, taking over a 150-bed hospital in Tawau, and pursuing new hospital development opportunities in Kuala Lumpur and Semenyih. - As Regional Head of Operations and GM Operations, led regional operations for six hospitals across four states in India, including the turnaround of four hospitals from negative EBITDA to profitability within a year. - As Regional Director (West) at Marengo CIMS Hospitals, oversaw operations of three hospitals across Gujarat and Rajasthan, alongside responsibilities in hospital acquisition, growth and P&L management. - Earlier in his career, he oversaw hospital operations and clinical support services, while gaining valuable exposure to the medical education environment, including MCI inspections and postgraduate teaching programmes. With an MBA in Hospital Administration, an M.Phil in Hospital & Health Systems Management, and healthcare leadership training from Harvard Medical School, his professional foundation combines hands-on hospital operations with strategic healthcare and institutional leadership. He has a strong interest in patient-centred care and healthcare transformation, particularly in the use of Artificial Intelligence, IoT, robotics and digital technologies to improve patient care and healthcare operations.  He is recognised as a thought leader in healthcare innovation, with invitations to speak at international conferences on AI, robotics, IoT and digital disruption in healthcare. He currently serves as COO of Manipal International Campuses in Malaysia and Dubai, bringing his extensive hospital and healthcare leadership experience into medical and higher education. Mr Gaurav is now undertaking INSEAD’s International Directors Programme (IDP), further strengthening his exposure to governance, board leadership and strategic decision-making.
