Fathma Mauger, Principal, Larrakeyah Primary School

Graduated from Charles Darwin University, Northern Territory (NT), Australia. Completed Master of Education (Honours) and Graduate Diploma in Public Sector Executive Management. 

Worked in the NT education system for 38 years and has been a Principal for 14 years. Currently Principal of Larrakeyah Primary School in Darwin, NT. 

Highly interested in school improvement and is an accredited Australian Council of Educational Research (ACER) NT Lead Reviewer. This involves reviewing school performance against a national teaching and learning framework. 

Larrakeyah Primary was selected as one of the first six Independent Public Schools in the NT. The school is an accredited Cambridge International School – the only accredited government school in the NT. 

Fathma was awarded NT Principal of the Year, Darwin Region in the 2021 Teaching in the Territory Excellence Awards. Fathma was a 2022 finalist in the Australian Education Awards – Principal of the Year (Government). Selected for Winners Hotlist 2022- The Educator and selected as one of the most influential educators in 2023 – The Educator. 

Larrakeyah Primary is a high-performing school and has been recognized at a national and international level – 2022 Winning school in the Australian Education Awards- Best STEM program, 2023 Finalist school in the Australian Education Awards - Best Use of Technology. Top 3 finalist in the 2021 International School Awards for the category “Continued Pathways to Further Education” and Top 3 finalist in the 2022 World's Best School Prizes for the category "Supporting Healthy Lives". 

Fathma is inspired by innovation in education and programs to extend students' learning - 21st-century learning skills, inquiry programs, ASPIRE, QUEST and STEAM. She has been an invited speaker at several international events and conferences - the largest global platform for 2022 World Education Week, the 2022 Outstanding Schools Asia conference and the 2023 EDUtech Asia conference. 
She has worked to enable Larrakeyah Primary to develop international partnerships with schools in Singapore, China and Malaysia.
