Allan Weston | Head of School

Dr Allan Weston joined Canadian International School Singapore in 2022 and has over 25
years of Headship experience leading prestigious schools around the world.
Originally from Australia, Allan began his teaching career in Queensland before moving to
the USA as an international teacher. His school leadership career quickly advanced and
he was promoted to Principal with Evergreen School District in Vancouver, Washington
State USA. On returning to Australia he assumed the position of Principal of Beenleigh
School where he was recognised for driving dramatic improvements in the quality of
teaching and educational outcomes as an early adopter of technology in education.
During his time at Beenleigh he served on the Queensland Government Education ICT
committee and developed a large-scale online learning project that received an
international award from SUN microsystems. Allan was soon recruited to lead the Sha Tin
School in Hong Kong with the English Schools Foundation where he served for 5 years.
During this time he was responsible for leading Sha Tin as a pilot school for the ESF IB
PYP programme and also as a pilot for the new district wide Chinese Language
programme.
Allan served for 8 years as CEO and Head of School at the Taipei European School, a
group of schools that offered the IB Diploma, French, German, and British sections, and a
strong Chinese language and culture programme. Under Allan’s leadership, Taipei
European became one of the most prestigious schools in Taiwan and had long waiting
lists.
Before his role in CIS Singapore, Allan served as Head of Greenfield International School
in Dubai, a member of the highly regarded Taaleem group. Greenfield International is a
full IB continuum school with a student body from over 80 nations and in 2021 won the
prestigious "Best IB School in the UAE" award as voted by parents, community members
and a panel of elite international school judges.
As the Head of School at CIS Singapore Allan is passionate about the continued
development of CIS as a premium school in Singapore's highly competitive international
school market. He is delighted to be part of the Maple Leaf family of schools and to be
able to contribute to the growth of the group across Asia.  He holds a EdD in Education from Portland State University and a Masters in Education
from Deakin University.
