Jean-Francois Toussaint, Global Head of Research and Development Vaccines, Sanofi

Jean-Francois has been the global head of R&D for Sanofi Vaccinessince February 2021. He obtained a PhD in bioengineering and animal sciences from the University of Gembloux in Belgium. He spent the next 4 years of his career on diagnostic at the Belgian reference center for animal diseases. He enrolled at GSK in 2006 where he led the development of several vaccine candidates, including GSK’s respiratory syncytial virus vaccine. In 2015, he became the Head of the discovery unit in GSK Vaccines’ Rixensart R&D center, where he oversaw several viral and bacterial vaccine discovery programs, translational science activities as well as GSK’s adjuvant center of excellence. Jean-François puts a strong emphasis on the value of international scientific collaborations with academics, public and private research centers and other pharma companies. He has actively contributed to several sizable deals at GSK. He holds an EMBA from HEC Paris.
