Dr Sumira Riaz is a Registered Health Psychologist, Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and Founder of Unboxed Psychology, a behaviour change, patient engagement consultancy. Sumira has 18 years of experience working within the NHS, charity section and healthcare agencies specialising in the Patient Engagement, most recently as the Centre of Excellence Lead within the patient engagement division, working closely with biotech and pharmaceutical companies across product development with a patient centric focus. She is the co-chair of the PM Society patient engagement interest group and the education and training lead for the Division of Health Psychology. Sumira worked specifically focusing chronic pain at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, previously at Milton Keynes University Hospital. Here she worked with patients diagnosed with pain and other mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety. Trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Sumira has accumulated 800+ clinical hours and understands the difficulties faced by people experiencing mental health and the complicated pathways when accessing help and support. As the founder of Unboxed Psychology, her mission is to transform patient engagement in healthcare through evidence-based psychological strategies.
