Sarah K. Nicholas, MD, is Senior Director of Medical Affairs, Rare Disease at Sumitomo Pharma America, where she leads medical strategy across a portfolio focused on rare immunologic conditions and regenerative medicine.  Prior to joining SMPA, Dr. Nicholas spent 18 years at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital, where she completed her training in pediatrics and allergy/immunology and went on to serve as Chief of the Allergy Immunology Clinic and Medical Director of the Infusion Center. She founded and directed the Solid Organ Transplant Immunology Program, building a comprehensive service to address complex immune challenges in transplant patients. Dr. Nicholas has also contributed to the discovery of novel immunodeficiency genes through her role as the immunologist for the Baylor site of the Undiagnosed Diseases Network (UDN) and as a member of the immunogenetics group and the Houston Project, an initiative focused on identifying genetic causes of immune system disorders. With deep expertise spanning clinical care, translational research and medical affairs leadership, Dr. Nicholas brings a comprehensive perspective on advancing therapies for patients living with rare and complex immune conditions.
