Guadalupe Hayes-Mota is the Director of the Bioethics Program at Santa Clara University's Markkula Center for Applied Ethics Santa Clara University and a Senior Lecturer at MIT. Born with severe hemophilia in rural Mexico, his personal experience with rare disease drives his commitment to expanding global access to lifesaving therapies. Hayes-Mota held executive roles at Biogen, Amgen, and GSK, where he directed medicine distribution to millions of patients across over one hundred countries. He founded Healr Solutions, an AI-powered company that optimized global drug distribution across 43 countries before being acquired. In 2024, U.S. Health Secretary Xavier Becerra appointed him to the NIH Cures Acceleration Network Review Board. He also serves on the Massachusetts Rare Disease Advisory Council and advises the European Commission on AI policy. Hayes-Mota holds degrees from MIT and Harvard, combining scientific expertise with ethical leadership in rare disease treatment.
