Deborah Ebert Long, MD is Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs at CSL. In this role, Deborah leads CSL’s worldwide Medical Affairs function, partnering across regions and functions to advance medical strategy, gather scientific insights, and engage healthcare professionals and key stakeholders to support evidence-based patient care. She initially joined CSL in August 2024 as Senior Vice President, Medical Affairs, overseeing the CSL Behring portfolio, and leveraging her extensive experience in medical leadership, drug development, and cross-functional team management. Prior to CSL, Deborah spent over seven years at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, serving first as Vice President and then as Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs (2017–2024), focusing on rare diseases and strategic medical leadership. Earlier, she held medical affairs and clinical roles at GSK, PRA Health Sciences, and Pfizer, supporting drug development and leading teams across the U.S. and Europe. Deborah earned her MD from the University of Massachusetts Medical School and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, followed by a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Wilford Hall Medical Center. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Wellesley College. She resides outside of Boston, Massachusetts with her family.
