Dr. Shafi is a distinguished expert in data science and artificial intelligence (AI), with over 15 years of experience leading advanced analytics teams and delivering AI-powered solutions across a wide range of industries, including government, defence, healthcare, and finance. He currently leads the Data Analytics and AI team at the Australian Institute of Marine Science. He holds a PhD in AI from the University of New South Wales, where his thesis was awarded the 2008 Stephen Fester Prize for the most outstanding PhD thesis in Information Technology. He has published nearly 70 papers for his work in machine learning and decision sciences, which have received more than 1500 citations according to Google Scholar.
