Adam Parnell
Director Maritime, the CHIRP Charitable Trust
Adam has been a professional mariner all his adult life and has significant experience of managing people, budgets, and driving organisational change in a wide range of multi-disciplinary appointments - both at sea and ashore - in the defence, private industry and the public sectors.
He joined the Royal Navy in 1988, initially as an engineer officer where he gained Chartered Engineer status but in 2000 he transferred to the Operations (Warfare) branch to realise his ambition of spending more time at sea, including time in command of several warships.
Alongside his seagoing roles, Adam has also worked in the UK’s Joint Force Headquarters and Ministry of Defence, and worked with the United Nations,
Between 2014 and 2021 Adam served as Harbour Master of several English ports before becoming the Director of the CHIRP Maritime programme.
