Gloria Botton specializes in energy research coordination and science communication. She currently serves as the Joint Programme Manager for Advanced Materials and Processes for Energy Applications (AMPEA), Energy Systems Integration (ESI), and Geothermal at the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA). In this role, she facilitates collaboration among researchers, industry stakeholders, and policymakers to support Europe’s transition to a climate-neutral energy system by 2050.
Her academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistic and Intercultural Mediation from the University of Milan and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Radboud University Nijmegen.
Gloria’s career reflects a strong commitment to interdisciplinary approaches, bridging the gap between technical research and societal impact. Her work highlights the importance of inclusive dialogue and strategic communication in advancing sustainable energy solutions and promoting social equity.
This session explores how to build an ecosystem around autonomous Materials Acceleration Platforms (MAP) for advanced functional materials in sustainable energy technologies. Three speakers will provide insights: one on the COST-Action EU-MACE, an ongoing European project establishing such an ecosystem; another will showcase a specific example on connecting traditional (legacy) laboratories to a MAP in practice; and the third will highlight the critical role of communication in bridging diverse stakeholders to foster collaboration and accelerated innovation.
