From Choosing to Describing: What LLM-First Software Means for R&D

For decades, scientists have worked by choosing: clicking through menus, filters, and forms. LLM-first software lets them describe what they need in plain language, from a screening DOE to a root-cause analysis, and get results in minutes. But AI is only as good as the data beneath it, and most R&D data is still scattered across spreadsheets, SOPs, and legacy systems. This session pairs a practical data strategy with real examples: structuring SOPs, searching institutional knowledge, and automating workflows. Attendees will learn how the scientist's role is shifting and how to prepare their data and teams for AI-enabled labs.
