Labs already use far more energy than typical commercial space, and automation, added instrumentation, AI, and on-site computing are pushing that higher. At the same time, building performance standards and volatile power markets are raising cost and compliance risk. Yet most lab leaders still treat energy as a fixed utility bill. This session shows how to manage it as a competitive asset. Attendees will learn why energy costs go unmanaged and how to fix that, where operators in deregulated markets leave money on the table, and how spreading emissions caps should shape growth, acquisition, and equipment decisions.
