Bo Li, Ph.D. leads life science innovation at Galatek, where he applies smart automation and AI to address complex biological challenges. With expertise spanning cell biology and laboratory automation, he is passionate about closing the gap between AI-driven experimental design and physical execution in the lab. At Galatek, Bo is focused on advancing next-generation automation that can think, sense, and adapt, with active research directions spanning organoid biology, synthetic biology, and antibody discovery. Bo earned his Ph.D. from Harvard University and previously conducted research at the Broad Institute.
AI is rapidly reshaping laboratory automation, but meaningful impact depends on more than just connecting instruments. This talk will explore how intelligent automation is transforming cell and organoid workflows, from routine cell culture and passaging to automated monitoring of culture health. By combining robotics, advanced imaging, and natural language AI, laboratories can reduce manual intervention while improving consistency, data quality, and experimental throughput. The session will also highlight how the same AI technologies are being extended to drug screening and antibody discovery, illustrating how smart automation is laying the foundation for more intelligent, connected, and data-driven research laboratories.
