Alyssa Deely is the Technical Account Manager for the West Coast at Automata, with a background in biomedical engineering, tissue engineering, antibody discovery and laboratory automation. Prior to joining Automata, she spent nearly four years as an Application Consulting Scientist where she designed, installed and supported hundreds of automated workcells for biotechnology customers.
Her experience spans automated system design, instrument integration, method development, system installation, training and technical support. With experience both at the bench and in customer-facing automation roles, Alyssa brings a practical perspective on implementing and scaling laboratory automation across scientific and engineering teams.
Despite rapid advances in technology and AI, many labs remain far from autonomous. Why? The limiting factor isn’t AI or individual instruments. It’s the infrastructure connecting them. The real challenge is creating AI-native, software-defined labs where instruments, workflows, data and AI operate as one intelligent system. This session separates hype from practical implementation, exploring the foundational capabilities required to move toward autonomy, from workflow orchestration to AI agents powered by the Model Context Protocol.Attendees will leave with a practical roadmap for building labs that can continuously evolve toward true autonomy.
