Adam Hall is a Field Application Scientist supporting SPT customers across the East Coast of the United States, primarily in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut, with additional coverage around the Boston area.
Adam’s scientific journey began in the UK, where he studied Pharmacology as an undergraduate at the University of Cambridge. He went on to complete a PhD at Imperial College London, focusing on molecular neuropharmacology and electrophysiology.
After moving to the US, Adam completed a postdoc and taught neuroscience as a professor in the Five Colleges in Western Massachusetts before transitioning into industry. His career has spanned application science, genomics, neuroscience, education and leadership roles, including work at Axon Instruments, LifeCanvas Technologies (where he led Scientific Affairs), and the creation of a regulatory testing lab built from the ground up.
As sequencing demands grow, the CHOP Microbiome Sequencing Core must support diverse applications, from shotgun metagenomics and 16S amplicon sequencing to low-biomass clinical samples and large-scale bacterial and fungal isolate whole-genome sequencing, while maintaining low costs, rapid turnaround, and minimal contamination risk. This session explores how the team has implemented an automated, low-volume library-preparation workflow to enable miniaturized, low-volume library preparation with walk-away automation. We will share early workflow successes, lessons learned during implementation, and our vision for a fully integrated, end-to-end sequencing pipeline. Adam Hall, Field Applications Scientist at SPT Labtech, will also be available to discuss technical considerations and lessons applicable to similar core facilities.
