Simon Cook, Recruitment Consultant Deputy Team Leader, Department for Work and Pensions

Simon Cook brings more than 30 years of experience across a diverse range of industries, united by a consistent focus on customer service, relationship building, and stakeholder engagement. His career has spanned professional performance as an actor and singer, leadership roles within hospitality, IT, telecommunications, and recruitment, providing him with a unique perspective on people, communication, and workforce development. Five years ago, Simon joined the Civil Service and has since held several roles within the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). Beginning as a Work Coach, he supported customers directly in overcoming barriers and moving towards employment. He then progressed to working on a variety of resettlement programmes, helping individuals successfully transition into their communities and the labour market. Simon later became Deputy Team Leader of a busy Front of House team, leading customer-facing operations and supporting service delivery. Today, Simon serves as Recruitment Consultant Deputy Team Leader for a very busy Jobcentre cluster. In this role, he works closely with employers, partners, and community organisations to build effective recruitment pathways, strengthen local labour market opportunities, and support customers into sustainable employment. Passionate about collaboration and creating positive outcomes, Simon is committed to bringing together employers and support services to help individuals achieve their employment goals.
