Tania Bishop, Chief Wildlife Veterinarian, WIRES Inc

Dr. Tania Bishop is an accomplished Zoo and Wildlife Veterinarian with 24 years of experience. She holds memberships in avian medicine, an industry fellowship at the University of Queensland, and qualifications in wildlife disease risk analyses and species management plan development from IUCN. Dr. Bishop is actively involved in renowned organisations like the Australasian Bat Society, Wildlife Disease Association, One Health Australia, and Wildlife Health Australia. She contributes to koala and grey-headed flying-fox recovery programs and contributed to the National Koala Disease Risk Analysis. With extensive experience managing wildlife hospitals, Dr. Bishop has mentored veterinarians and nurses, treating various land, sea-based, and zoo species. She focuses on mitigating the impact of wildlife disasters and authored Queensland's heat event management policy for flying-fox camps. Dr. Bishop's expertise extends to training wildlife professionals, conducting research, and supporting wildlife care at WIRES, and internationally through lecturing. Her dedication shapes wildlife conservation and management practices.
