Jim Schuman’s journey to founding PawHealthAI is rooted in a lifetime of entrepreneurial spirit and global experience. He has volunteered for the United States Peace Corps, started his own import/export business, and worked at a Fortune 50 technology company, living across North America, Central and South America, and the Asia Pacific before settling in Melbourne.
Much like the founding story of Netflix, Jim and Akash, one of his First Pivot coaches who was studying AI at Melbourne University, brainstormed business ideas while commuting to programs. Many of their ideas focused on applying AI to challenges they personally experienced. The focus sharpened on veterinary problems when Mocha, Jim's daughter’s dog, had to visit the vet twice in a short period. This sparked the founding of PawHealthAI—a company dedicated to leveraging AI to enhance veterinary care and animal health outcomes. PawHealthAI is developing smart, accessible tools that empower pet owners and support veterinary professionals to streamline clinical workflows and improve care for pets. The PawHealthAI story reflects a blend of resilience, creativity, and a commitment to practical innovation that meets real-world needs in the veterinary community.
