David Lurie, Veterinary Medical and Radiation Oncologist, Co-founder, ONE Cancer Care For Pets

Dr. Lurie is a native Zimbabwean. He received his Bachelor of Veterinary Science from the University of Pretoria in South Africa in 2000. He completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery with an emphasis on medical oncology at the University of Illinois in 2001. He subsequently completed residencies in medical and radiation oncology at the University of California, Davis in 2003 and 2005 respectively. Dr Lurie then went on to take a faculty position at the University of Florida where he was a founding member of their oncology program. He served in this capacity as the Hill’s endowed chair for oncology between 2005-2009. In 2009 Dr Lurie moved to Miami, to take up a position as head of oncology at Miami Veterinary Specialists and in 2012 joined Affiliated Veterinary Specialists in Orlando as head of oncology. In 2017 he moved to Sydney to join the Animal Referral Hospital and establish a comprehensive cancer care service in Homebush including the first stereotactic radiation therapy program for pets in Australia. In November 2022, Dr. Lurie in collaboration with VetPartners became a founding member and director of ONE cancer care for pets with the aim of creating a collaborative national network of veterinary oncologists to provide the highest standard of medical and radiation oncology services throughout Australia. Dr. Lurie is extensively published in the field of canine lymphoma and the use of stereotactic radiation therapy to treat animal cancers.

Dr. Lurie is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (oncology) and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Radiology (radiation oncology).
