Dr. Bridget Naughton is a passionate educator and veterinary professional whose career has been dedicated to supporting the next generation of veterinary nurses as they transition from the classroom into clinical practice. Currently a Senior Lecturer and Head of Program for the Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing at Melbourne Polytechnic in partnership with La Trobe University, she leads the development, delivery and continuous improvement of work-integrated learning experiences that prepare students for the realities of professional practice. A graduate of The University of Melbourne (BVSc), Dr Naughton spent over 17 years working as a veterinarian in both Australia and the United Kingdom—an experience that ignited her commitment to veterinary nursing education within clinical settings. Driven by a desire to understand the importance of workplace learning on clinical education, Dr Naughton completed a MSc in Veterinary Education at the Royal Veterinary College, University of London. Her research explores reflection and identity formation during clinical placements.
What students and graduates experience in their initial years will significantly influence the formation of their professional identity and their understanding of good practices.
