Mr. Steven Starmans is Director of Kim Delta Vietnam, based in Can Tho, where he leads initiatives focused on sustainable agriculture, rural development, and capacity building in the Mekong Delta region.
With an international career spanning Asia, Africa, and Europe, Mr. Starmans brings extensive experience in project management, training, organisational development, and agronomy. His professional work has consistently centred on practical solutions for agricultural productivity, sustainability, and community resilience.
Since joining Kim Delta Vietnam in 2020, he has overseen programmes supporting agricultural innovation, farmer engagement, and knowledge transfer in one of Vietnam’s most strategically important food-producing regions.
Prior to this, he served as Program Manager of the Applied Research Centre Delta Areas and Resources at Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands, where he worked on applied research and education related to delta management, water systems, and sustainable land use.
Earlier in his career, he also managed his own agribusiness ventures and worked as an agronomist with international companies, building hands-on expertise across crop systems, agribusiness operations, and market-oriented agriculture.
Mr. Starmans holds a Master of Science in Agronomy and Tropical Crop Science from Wageningen University, one of the world’s leading agricultural institutions. Fluent in Dutch, English, French, and German, with additional working knowledge of Indonesian, he brings a highly international and cross-cultural perspective to sustainable development in Vietnam’s agricultural sector.
