Mr. John Rockhold is the Head of the Power and Energy Working Group at the Vietnam Business Forum (VBF), where he collaborates with the Government of Vietnam, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the World Bank to advance sustainable energy policies and promote foreign direct investment (FDI) in the energy sector. With over 28 years of experience in Vietnam, he has overseen more than 100 energy and infrastructure projects from concept to completion.
Since 2009, Mr. Rockhold has led the VBF Power and Energy Working Group, which consists of over 300 members and a dedicated Secretariat. Under this initiative, he has contributed to key policy documents, including the Made in Vietnam Energy Plan (MVEP)—a comprehensive roadmap supporting renewable energy, LNG/hydrogen adoption, and energy efficiency. The group published the first MVEP in 2016, followed by MVEP 2.0 in 2020, addressing Vietnam’s energy transition under the Politburo's Resolution 55. Currently, MVEP 3.0 is in development, focusing on mobilizing resources to meet Vietnam's international energy commitments.
In addition to his role at VBF, Mr. Rockhold is the President of Pacific Rim Investment & Management Inc. (PRIM), where he manages foreign direct investment projects in energy and infrastructure. He also serves as Co-Chair of the AmCham Vietnam Energy Committee and has held leadership positions at the Nordic Chamber of Commerce and Grontmij Vietnam.
Mr. Rockhold studied Engineering and Applied Science at the University of California and brings extensive expertise in renewable energy, project development, and public-private collaboration to support Vietnam’s long-term energy goals.
