Valentín Maya is a Spanish agricultural engineer with over 20 years of experience in sustainable pasture improvement and management, particularly in grazing ecosystems such as dehesa. Since 2003, he has worked as a technologist in the Extensive Crops Department at the Center for Scientific and Technological Research of Extremadura (CICYTEX). Throughout his career, Maya has led research focused on sustainable strategies for agricultural and livestock production. His work emphasizes the conservation of plant genetic resources and pasture improvement, contributing significantly to the sustainability of agro-livestock systems in the Extremadura region. In recent years, Valentín Maya has become well known for his work in Agrovoltaics, integrating agricultural and livestock production with solar energy generation. He has participated in projects such as GO-AGRVOLTAICA y PASTOREO-FV. He has also advocated for regenerative grazing as an effective method to combine energy and agricultural use, emphasizing the synergies between photovoltaic projects and the primary sector. He is a strong advocate of livestock farming as a tool for generating ecosystem services in photovoltaic plants.
