Juan I. Pérez-Díaz received the MEng and PhD degrees in 2004 and 2008, respectively, from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). He has worked
at UPM as Assistant Professor from 2009 to 2011, as non-tenured Associate Professor from 2011 to 2020, as Associate Professor from 2020 to 2024,
and as Full Professor since 2024. In 2014 he was Visiting Professor at the Department of Industrial Engineering of University of Padova. His current
research interests focus on power generation scheduling, load-frequency control in power systems, grid integration of renewable energy and hybrid
power plants. He is author of 60 articles in JCR journals, and of 65 articles in international conferences. Juan Ignacio has collaborated as reviewer for 24
JCR journals. He has coordinated and/or participated in 15 research projects funded under national and international calls, and in 41 contract research
projects for public and private companies of the Spanish electric power sector. He participates in the EERA Joint Programme on Energy Storage since 2012, the EERA JP on Hydropower since 2019, and the ETIP Hydropower since 2024, and was member of the Scientific Committee of the Norwegian Research
Centre for Hydropower Technology (HydroCen) from 2017 to 2024. He was founding partner of SEG Hidroelectrica, S.L., which became subsidiary company of Cuerva in 2016.
