Imagine a day where the GPS in your car fails to perceive where you are while driving in a new country. Imagine the uncertainty it creates within you.
Now take it a step further—imagine a day where several important infrastructures in our modern society fail in the same way. The aviation signals, your phone, your watch—everything we rely on. Imagine the pure chaos this would create for our civil society with all the systems we depend on these days. We are being attacked by "jamming" and "spoofing" every day. Imagination aside, these attacks already cause chaos and danger for vehicles and satellite-signal-dependent equipment due to new warfare methods.

Have you ever thought about the magnitude of these attacks? Luckily, Testnor, our collaboration partners, and 200 yearly participants have.

Testnor was established in 2021 with the goal of positioning Norway as a premier testbed for advanced technology. The company acts as a “one-stop shop” for testing, providing administrative and operational support to participants and clients during the execution of complex test scenarios. Testnor also develops a secure data-sharing platform to facilitate efficient collaboration and innovation.

One of Testnor's most notable initiatives is open-air testing, which allows academic, industrial, and defense actors to test the resilience of their systems in a controlled yet challenging environment. These tests are particularly valuable for satellite-reliant technologies such as GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System), where threats like jamming and spoofing pose growing risks to critical infrastructure, communications, and defense systems.

We have access to GNSS-disturbing expertise through our collaboration with the national authorities in Norway. For four years in a row, we have conducted tests in parts of Northern Norway that are optimal for these types of tests. We have a unique geographical advantage, as these tests would be impossible to execute in densely populated areas.

As the project leader for Jammetest, Testnor is responsible for concept development, logistics coordination, and test setup planning, ensuring smooth execution. By offering access to cutting-edge facilities and expertise, Testnor enables national and international stakeholders to address vulnerabilities, enhance technological robustness, and prepare for the future of secure and reliable satellite-dependent systems.

Through collaboration, innovation, and practical testing, Testnor plays a vital role in advancing robust solutions for critical technologies worldwide. We are now in a stage of development where we aim to offer even more customized test-scenarios for our customers, and the automotive-industry is one of our first targets.
