Emanuela Marasco | Senior research scientist

Dr. Emanuela Marasco currently serves as a Senior Research Scientist in the Department of Computer Science at Virginia Commonwealth University, where her research focuses on Artificial Intelligence with an emphasis on Identity Sciences, Cybersecurity, and Human Vision. Previously, she was an Assistant Professor at George Mason University, where she also served as a Public–Private Partnership Faculty Fellow at the Institute for Digital Innovation. She held postdoctoral positions in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at West Virginia University and in the Department of Computer Science at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She received her Ph.D. in Computer and Automation Engineering from the University of Naples Federico II. Her work has been published in leading venues, including IEEE TBIOM, Nature, Elsevier journals, Wiley, EMNLP, ECML PKDD, and WACV. She is also an inventor on patents related to biometric-based multi-factor authentication and hyperspectral imaging technologies. She has served as Lead Principal Investigator on various research grants funded by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute of Justice. She is an associate editor for Pattern Recognition and Image and Vision Computing, Elsevier. She also served as a co-organizer of workshops at ICIP and CVPR, as well as an industry panel organizer and demo chair at WACV.
