Tom Worthington is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the School of Computing at the Australian National University. He teaches project students, and interns, using work integrated learning techniques. Tom writes on education issues as The Higher Education Whisperer. He previously wrote IT policy at the Department of Defence. Tom was elected a Fellow of the Australian Computer Society (ACS) in 1999 for his contribution to the development of public Internet policy in Australia. He is a past president, Fellow and Honorary Life Member of the ACS, a life member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Tom is a member of the ACS Professional Standards Board, which sets accreditation requirements for computing degrees in Australia. He is the author of the award winning book and course ICT Sustainability: Assessment and Strategies for a Low Carbon Future, used by universities in Australia and North America.
