Nele Verheyen is Project Director at the SGS Clinical Pharmacology Unit (SGS CPU) in Antwerp, Belgium, leading complex early‑phase clinical programs with a focus on Controlled Human Infection Model studies (or CHIMs). A veterinarian by training, she brings over 15 years of combined experience across pharma and medical devices in the EMEA region. Her background includes roles in medical affairs, senior clinical operations, and even some preclinical research during her early years. Building on SGS’s established expertise with influenza H3N2 challenge studies, Nele has been instrumental in driving the development and implementation of a novel RSV CHIM, contributing to a major step forward in RSV translational research. She is actively involved in international partnerships and scientific consortia and is passionate about virology, leveraging CHIM platforms to de‑risk development programs, deepen immunological insight, and ultimately accelerate the delivery of impactful vaccines and therapeutics.
