Dr. Jiang currently is a project director/supervisory research microbiologist in Division of Viral Diseases, National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. His research interests include epidemiology, virology, immunology and vaccinology of viral diseases, with a particular focus on R&D and advocacy of new vaccine, combination vaccines and novel delivery technology against rotavirus, polio and other pasthogens. He has served as a resource and subject matter expert for academic institutions, vaccine manufacturers, government and non-government organizations in developed and emerging developing countries. He has published more than 200 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and book chapters, and held several families of patents on rotavirus vaccine, combination vaccines and diagnostics. He received many awards and honors, including the 2018 CDC Director’s Award for Innovation, the Walter R. Dowdle Award for outstanding scientific achievements and the 2022 CDC Honor Award for leading rapid increase of CDC’s SARS-CoV-2 PCR testing capacity, vital diagnostic CLIA testing, & support for COVID-19 studies. He has served in various professional organizations, editorial and review boards of many scientific journals and helped organize a variety of scientific conferences and workshops worldwide.
