Dr. Michelle McClure is a geneticist and the Director of Public Policy for the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG). Her professional interests include improving policies related to rare diseases, ranging from genetic testing and diagnosis to development and coverage of gene therapies and other advanced therapeutics. In her current role, Dr. McClure leads a broad public policy and government affairs portfolio, including federal, state, and payer policies related to access to genetic testing, responsible use of genetic data, coverage and reimbursement improvements, and coding and nomenclature needs. Prior to joining the ACMG, she worked as a biologist at the Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research doing regulatory policy development and product reviews for cell and tissue-based therapies. Her prior experiences also include processing human tissue-based products at a biologics company. Dr. McClure received her PhD in genetics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
