Varunan V is a senior telecom and technology executive with nearly 19 years of experience across wireless, wireline, transport, and enterprise networks. Most recently, he served as Chief Technology Officer for airtel’s Odisha operations, where he was responsible for the circle’s technology organisation and network performance.

Varunan has spent more than a decade with airtel across a range of technology leadership roles. Prior to becoming CTO, he served as Circle Head – Mobility in Uttar Pradesh and Network Experience Head in Karnataka, and previously led network planning and quality functions. His experience covers network strategy and planning, operational excellence, customer experience, network optimisation, infrastructure rollout, governance and compliance, vendor management, and CapEx and OpEx optimisation.

He has also worked as a Solution Architect at Ericsson, with earlier network planning and optimisation roles at Reliance Communications, Idea Cellular, and Telecom Network Solutions. Across his career, Varunan has worked with Ericsson, Huawei, ZTE, and Lucent network environments and has been involved in large-scale network transformation, capacity planning, rollout, performance improvement, and multi-vendor operations.

Varunan holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication from Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College. His expertise spans telecom technology leadership, network transformation, operational excellence, network planning and optimisation, analytics, infrastructure management, and technology governance.
