Random Red is a Croatian research and development company specializing in the digital transformation of metrology and quality infrastructure, with a focus on integrating emerging technologies such as blockchain and artificial intelligence. For example:
MorphMetro project (morphmetro.eu): We have developed a solution for the secure exchange and analysis of measured data in quality assurance processes (including interlaboratory comparisons and proficiency testing). This solution uses fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) to ensure data confidentiality and can be applied to the development and use of so-called “smart standards” (https://www.iso.org/smart).
TruPS project (trups.eu): As a logical expansion of MorphMetro, TruPS applies machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms to encrypted data in general, keeping data confidential during analysis. In this setup, your data remains encrypted when shared with a third party for ML/AI processing - only you know original (plaintext) input values and only you can decrypt the final results. And if you perform the analysis yourself, you can still return the outcomes without ever accessing the original (plaintext) input data, thus preserving the data owner’s confidentiality.
FormatMetro: A project (currently in development) for restructuring measured data (and data in general) across different formats. Many laboratories, national metrology institutes, and research organizations face difficulties transforming data between various standards and custom templates. To address this, we are developing an AI-based approach that automates data transformation, supporting both predefined templates (e.g., PTB’s Digital Calibration Certificates) and user-defined or arbitrary formats.
In addition, we are leveraging established pan-european digital transformation infrastructures - such as the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI) and the International Data Spaces (IDSA) - to streamline quality infrastructure processes, ensuring secure and efficient data exchange across diverse organizations and jurisdictions.
Usage of European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI): Through the EBSI Early Adopters Programme (https://ec.europa.eu/digital-building-blocks/sites/display/EBSI/Home), we aim to streamline metrology verification processes - such as calibrating and inspecting measuring instruments - and enable the secure issuance and verification of credentials for laboratories and legal entities, by leveraging EBSI’s pan-European decentralized blockchain technology and self-sovereign identities in accordance with eIDAS 2.0. Usage of IDSA (https://internationaldataspaces.org/): In SBS Uncert project (https://www.ptb.de/epm2023/sbsuncert/home) we adopt the International Data Spaces (IDS) framework to securely and sovereignly exchange measurement data - such as waveforms and calibration parameters. This approach safeguards both intellectual property and confidentiality, fostering real-time collaboration among laboratories and industry stakeholders.
