Lalita Pinky Taylor FRSA is Founder and CEO of We Job Box, a social impact platform connecting people with skills, work experience and career opportunities. A former BBC leader with more than 30 years’ experience across journalism, communications, digital media and engagement, Lalita has championed innovation, inclusion and workforce development throughout her career. She co-chaired BBC WiSTEM, co-founded MediaTechWomen and has advised organisations including UNFPA and CoSTAR R&D National Lab. Her work with We Job Box brings together research, technology and direct experience with young people and employers to explore how skills, experience and social capital can create more meaningful routes into work.
Young people repeatedly ask us the same question: how do I get experience when I need experience to get work experience?
We Job Box has explored that question through research, a proof of concept with 500 young people across five sectors and 40 employers, and government-funded pilots in Birmingham, Bristol and London that created 12,500 hours of work experience.
In this session, Lalita Taylor will share what young people and employers have taught us about experience, skills and social capital, and how those insights are now shaping We Job Box’s AI-enabled skills-matching platform, designed to create more meaningful connections between talent and opportunity.
