As President and CEO of MCNC, Tracy leads a $70mil organization focused on eliminating the digital divide by bringing much needed broadband infrastructure to education, state government, and non-profit healthcare clients across North Carolina. As a leader in the industry, Tracy is often sought out for her expertise speaking before state and federal government, public and private organizations, and events across the nation. With deep leadership experience spanning Duke Health, the state of North Carolina and numerous national boards including the Center for Internet Security, she brings a holistic perspective to cybersecurity, digital equity, ESG and tech innovation in the public and private sectors. In her career, she has held executive-level roles with organizations such as Duke Health, the State of North Carolina, and currently with MCNC. As the president and CEO of MCNC, she is responsible for providing strategic direction for the telecommunications provider. In a prior role with the State of North Carolina, she oversaw state cybersecurity, operational services, broadband infrastructure, solutions division, data analytics center, NC 911 board, and strategic IT planning. She serves as a director on the boards of the MCNC Endowment, the MCNC (as ex officio), The Quilt, Rewriting the Code (RTC), North Carolina Telehealth Network Association (NCTNA), the Center for Internet Safety (CIS), and NC State University’s Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISE) Advisory Board. Additionally, she serves on the Carolinas Pandemic Preparedness Task Force, National Association of Chief Executive Officers (NACEO), NC Broadband Coalition Steering Committee, NC Digital Equity Collaborative (NCDEIC), NCTECH, and The Quilt’s Executive Committee. Previously, she served on the Governor’s Task Force on Connecting NC, NC State's Computer Science Strategic Advisory Board, and the Triangle Technology Executive Council. She is also a co-PI for two National Science Foundation (NSF) Awards. She has received several awards, including the 2024 College of Engineering Distinguished Alumnus Award from North Carolina State University, 2018 Public CIO Award from NC TECH, the 2016 Distinguished Alumnus Award from North Carolina University's Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, and the 2022 Triangle Business Journal’s Women in Business Award for Nonprofit Leadership.
